Not just cookbooks!
I tried to come up with some kind of clever pun about my voracious reading appetite, but the point is: I don’t just like writing about food, I like reading about it, too. So here’s where I keep track of my culinary readings, cookbooks and otherwise (the cookbooks are actually the hardest to remember, even though I use them the most). I’ll try to keep them sorted into roughly chronological categories: the past (books I’ve finished or at least returned to the library), the present (books I’m currently reading), the future (books I hope to read), and timeless (my very favorites).

Hi Tracy:
Have you read Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Eat, Pray, Love” ? Food is entwined in all the chapters, especially in the beginning. I found it to be delightful and meaningful.

Hi Rebecca! Thanks for reading and commenting! I have seen Eat, Pray, Love at several bookstores and not checked it out; the “pray” title made me a little nervous, what with being sort of a godless heathen and all. But your recommendation is helping my curiosity overcome that nervousness; I bet my friendly local public library has a copy I can borrow some time. And finally, thanks so much for reminding me to update my book lists!
the pray part is about her going to an ashram (in India)…which was quite far removed from all the wonderful eating experiences she was having in Italy. There was one fellow at the ashram from TX who called her ‘groceries’…he was quite a character! I understand about the ‘pray’ part. I didn’t feel I was being preached to at all, but given the opportunity to read someone’s journal entries about some inner conversations that may even sound familiar, or not, but still makes an interesting read! :)
Looking forward to that update!
PS. Just had a bowl of tomato soup…w/saltines. It was one of those days!
