Long story short, between one of McGee’s New York Times “Curious Cook” columns and Alton Brown’s adorable usage of the abbreviation xv for extra-virgin olive oil, I was inspired to sip teaspoons of an excellent artisanal olive oil gifted to me by my parents courtesy of a grower they met in Italy, and a supermarket blend (Star brand, from Italy, Spain, Greece, and Tunisia, packaged in Spain). Short version: saw Ratatouille (loved it), ate delicious desserts, woo garden, holy big tips on Sunday, some thoughts about my weekend at work, more garden awesomeness, and a really random idea about my fingernails. Woo-hoo! Anyway… Google Reader has been eating my brain ever since I started using it, but it’s been especially awesome ever since I got back from our stupendous summer bike adventure and found it full of literally hundreds of articles clamoring for my attention. Most recently, while catching up on the New York Times Op-Ed page, Trevor Corson’s July 15 piece, “Sushi for Two” made me all kinds of nostalgic for the best sushi I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating, the offerings at Hapi Sushi in Laguna Beach. (Note to self: plan big bad West Coast bike trip and schedule several days for eating our way through Orange County.) (more…)
