Sorry about dropping off the face of the intertubes last week; my parents were visiting from out of town until Tuesday, and I ran out of almost-finished entries to post well before that, and then on Thursday I went to a wedding in Texas, from which I am still recuperating. So. Much. Tracy. Kryptonite. I did, however, quite enjoy the Catfish Plantation of “picture-perfect” Waxahachie, Texas — you’d better believe I’m going to hunt down the relevant King of the Hill episode, oh yes indeedy.
In other news, I’ve finally sucked it up and created a Facebook account with which to get/keep in touch with people, especially East Coast and in particular New York City types since, y’know, we’re headed out there in, oh, ABOUT EIGHT FREAKING WEEKS (but no stress or anything, really, it’s just I hear there’s a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, too). So. Facebook. I’m guessing I won’t be too hard to find there, and if nothing else it’ll be yet another way for me to notify folks about new TracyFood posts. (more…)

I nearly tripped over a big box of awesome left at the front door last Thursday: Half a gallon of Grade A dark amber maple syrup, courtesy of my brother Piett, his girlfriend Jen, and her dad’s farm in Vermont. Hot damn is that ever good stuff (we had it on waffles for dinner that very night). (more…)
