I went to bed with a headache last night, and when I woke up, it was still there, and staring at various screens almost certainly didn’t help with any of that, so I gave myself the day off from electronics. Before that, however, I set up an apologetic post to appear later in the day, so I could edit it if my brain stopped hurting before its scheduled appearance. Luckily, some combination of naps, ibuprofen, iced coffee, and generic Excedrin seems to have done the trick, so here’s some last-minute Monkey Monday action for today:
- things I ate over the weekend that changed my life (for the better); and
- stuff I’ve cooked with last week’s awesome CSA haul
CSA veggies (and fruit!) for 12 September 2013
Happy Friday the 13th, readers. Just a quick post today, celebrating our awesome CSA haul for the week! Peter found out that if he waits around till the end of pickup time, the lefovers are up for grabs! Which is how we ended up with eight ears of corn, holy cats, but also four peaches, yay! Now to figure out what to do with all that corn… I’m thinking Sam’s ice cream recipe might be a good place to start. Other challenges set up by this and previous weeks of CSA goodness: green (and yellow) beans and so many potatoes. Yum.
The guac in question, seen here gracing a plate of chilaquiles.
This recipe was more or less inspired by page 212 of my beloved Moosewood Restaurant New Classics (reviewed here but I try not to miss any chances to plug it shamelessly).
For the all-photo version of this recipe, check out yesterday’s post.
And now, on with the show!
