Nepal Trip 2007: Travel Day 1: Los Angeles-Bangkok 10 October 2007 9:11 am

Think good thoughts for me, everybody! Today I’m flying a very weird, very long, reverse sort-of redeye; it started at 11:10 PM Tuesday night and will continue until 6:40 AM Thursday. Pan-de-fricken-monium, I tell you what. The good news is I’ve got company: instead of flying the short way around the world from the East Coast, my brother Piett flew west to join me in Los Angeles. Here’s hoping there’s a decent in-flight movie or three. Also we’re flying Thai Air, which I hope will put a more interesting spin on airplane food than the usual U.S. airlines. Of course, I am taking notes. And maybe pictures.

This post was written and scheduled for automagical posting in the week before I left on this crazy adventure. I hope to write many more posts about the trip — you know, with more actual details and pictures and stuff — but for now this is all we’ve got while my intergoogle access is all kinds of sporadic during my travels from October 9 until November 6.

Aaaand I’m off! 9 October 2007 2:00 pm
