Monkey Monday: a question for my NYC-area readers 26 October 2009 12:43 pm
Posted by Tracy in : events, fun, news, nyc, random , trackbackMore standard Monkey Monday-style odds and ends tomorrow, but I was taking too long writing those bits and I wanted to get this up on the off chance of having it be news to somebody who could go.
So.

Hey party people! Are any of you going to the Glynwood Harvest Award winners’ panel, The New Future of Food: Finding Change in Unlikely Places tonight? It’s at 6 pm at the French Culinary Institute (462 Broadway at Grand Street, NYC) and it’s free and I would so be there if I didn’t have class from 4:55 until 6:35. Here’s what I know of the lineup, courtesy of the discussion board for my Food Policy class, of all places:
Glynwood Harvest Award Winners and Panel participants:
- Farmer Award: Howard Straub, Triple H Farms, Michigan
- Connecting Communities, Farmers and Food Award: Eat ‘n Park Hospitality Group, Pennsylvania
- Good Food for Good Health Award: Plow to Plate at New Milford Hospital, Connecticut
- Wave of the Future Award: Farmers Cody Hopkins and Andrea Todt, Falling Sky Farm, Arkansas
The panel discussion will be followed by a cocktail reception to meet the winners and enjoy regionally-produced foods prepared by graduates of The French Culinary Institute whose restaurants support local food on their menus:
- Chef Sean Rembold, Marlow & Sons, Brooklyn
- Chef Shanna Pacifico, Back Forty, NYC
- Chef Josh Eden, Shorty’s 32, NYC
- Chef Bobby Hellen, Resto, NYC
Anyway, I’m really curious about the event, and would love to hear more about it, so please write me if you go or know where I can find out how it went. Thanks!
