First, I would like to share a Malvina Reynolds song:

with thanks to Echidne of the Snakes for pointing me to this and other videos.

Next, check out this lovely bit of food blogging by the always thought-provoking David Bryne and then, if you’re in the New York area, join me for the man’s free concert in Prospect Park tonight! So awesome! (The weather does not look promising, but I’ll be the one dancing like no one is watching, in clothes that stay warm when wet.)

And finally, speaking of free concerts, I’d like to introduce you to my new favorite NYC street performer:

My new favorite NYC street performer.

This guy is playing the theme from Star Wars on the accordion, in yes, a Boba Fett mask. Threateningly overcast sky be danged, it was a great morning at the Union Square Greenmarket: rhubarb, potting soil (pay no attention to the price on that page; it’s always cheaper at the market), and at last a little baby bay laurel tree — but the music kicked it over into completely and undeniably awesome. Yay!

Funny you saw that musician playing ‘Star Wars’ – I was in the subway at Union Square where the ‘Saw Lady’ played the theme from ‘Star Trek’ on the musical saw! If you’ve never seen her – this is who she is: http://www.sawlady.com/blog
I wonder if these musicians know of one another.

I need to leave the office more and hang out at the greenmarket. That guy looks awesome.
