Wednesday Greenmarket wackiness! 27 May 2009 9:06 am

So one of these days I’m going to figure out how to incorporate my Twitter feed into this blog, for short attention span theater TracyFood, like this example from two Wednesdays ago:

Trying to confirm rumors of Greenmarket rhubarb. No luck so far, but hope springs eternal etc.

Was going to whine about not having bought a laurel plant when I had the chance, got distracted: Cirque du Soleil at market. <3 this town.

Completely 100% true story! I have pictures to prove it:

A Greenmarket surprise.

Greenmarket acrobatics.

If you look closely at the chalkboard sign in the next picture, or click through to see a larger version on Flickr, you can see the rhubarb rumor (I typed “rhumor” but then corrected myself) mentioned in my first tweet.

Hijinks ensued.

But anyway. My point: Cirque du Soleil invaded the Union Square Greenmarket, and I was there to see the hijinks that ensued (although I didn’t get one of the red clown noses they were giving out, alas.) It was awesome, and a good time was had by all. I think maybe I’ve mentioned this a million times already, but I’m SO HAPPY to live in this here greatest city on Earth.

And now I am off for more Wednesday wackiness: the Grow, Cook, Eat, Learn first-graders are going on a tour of that same Greenmarket. I don’t anticipate any clowns today, but the regular street performers will probably be distracting enough. Also I’m looking forward to checking out some awesome-looking educational competition.
