Ask TracyFood: how about those sprouts? 3 March 2009 11:23 pm

So last week Monday I made a delicious dinner that started like so:

Roasted brussels sprouts.

and Allison saw the picture on Flickr and wrote:

How did you make these? I need me some green vegis like my stunted artichokes need some damn sun.

Woo, lady — thanks for asking! Those delicious little roasted cabbages are part of the stunningly delicious Lentil Stew with Candied Brussels Sprouts, a recipe by Helen Rennie of Beyond Salmon and more. The whole dish looks like this:

Du Puy lentil stew with candied Brussels sprouts and caramelized onion.

and it is delicious. I used slightly more sprouts than are called for in the original recipe, and I’m not sorry; Peter and I ate them all between just the two of us and had lots of lentil goodness left over. Happily, the leftover lentils got even more delicious after a day of marinating in the fridge, and reheated very well. I only wish I’d had more sprouts to roast and top them with. Here’s wishing you much success in your sprout-licious endeavors!

Big love,
-Tracy

Wow. Two of my favorites! Brussels sprouts + lentils. I’ll have to try it! Thanks.
