Here it is (I meant to post it yesterday but the 1930s spouse test was just too funny to resist):

Morning Glory Specials, 6 June 2008

The french toast is weird but surprisingly good; Gail made a test piece while I was closing the kitchen on Thursday and it took sort of a long time to get done (I’d already turned on the griddle and it’s slow to warm up) but then the bananas actually browned really nicely. The soup wasn’t done by the time I left, but it was smelling pretty good, and as always I am a complete sucker for all things portobello mushroom. Happy weekend, everybody! (more…)

Friday FAIL: in which I am a lousy 1930s spouse. 6 June 2008 4:33 pm

First, I know no one is surprised. Second, I swear this is almost relevant: there’s lots of questions about food and eating. Finally, full disclosure: I left blank all the questions about wife and/or husband treatment, as I have neither. I should maybe go back and pretend all those questions say “partner” but honestly, I think I’ve wasted enough time on this already.

Cj, this is all your fault. Thanks for an enjoyable little diversion!

So some Thursdays ago I posted my my basic minestrone recipe but I cut it short because I felt like I’d been rambling on for far too long. Today I finally present you with the conclusion to my minestrone saga: suggestions for tasty ways to adapt this soup to almost any season or available vegetable-type ingredient. Here goes!

Helloooo readers! Sorry about dropping off the face of the intertubes last week; my parents were visiting from out of town until Tuesday, and I ran out of almost-finished entries to post well before that, and then on Thursday I went to a wedding in Texas, from which I am still recuperating. So. Much. Tracy. Kryptonite. I did, however, quite enjoy the Catfish Plantation of “picture-perfect” Waxahachie, Texas — you’d better believe I’m going to hunt down the relevant King of the Hill episode, oh yes indeedy.

In other news, I’ve finally sucked it up and created a Facebook account with which to get/keep in touch with people, especially East Coast and in particular New York City types since, y’know, we’re headed out there in, oh, ABOUT EIGHT FREAKING WEEKS (but no stress or anything, really, it’s just I hear there’s a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, too). So. Facebook. I’m guessing I won’t be too hard to find there, and if nothing else it’ll be yet another way for me to notify folks about new TracyFood posts. (more…)
