Another quickie: Feng shui McDonalds in L.A. 27 February 2008 8:42 pm
Posted by Tracy in : consumerism, fast food, news, restaurants, weird , trackbackAgain, seriously, this was just too weird not to share: Calif. McDonald’s Tries Feng Shui Theme, via Eating Liberally, whose writer is way more feng shui literate than I will likely ever be. Here’s the part that really made my head spin:
[One of the owners] said he and his partners chose the feng shui makeover because the restaurant is located near a renowned Buddhist temple, which is considered good luck. The designs were meant to appeal to the area’s growing Asian population, but were also done in a way that would help all customers tap their inner Zen.
Help me out here, y’all. Last time I checked Buddhism wasn’t too cool with either McDonalds-style crass commercialism, let alone, um, all the dead animals involved in the making of a fast food empire. Again, I say: What the crap? Is Wednesday officially going to be “weird food news for Tracy” day? Because I’ll keep making bewildered posts about it, oh yes I will.
Come to think of it, the news about the Hallmark/Westland downer cow abuse went big on a Wednesday, too… coincidence? We’ll just have to take more data and find out.
