Today on TracyFood, a little glimpse into the food geek brain at work, scanned directly from my notes on a soup I made at Morning Glory yesterday:

First and foremost, happy birthday Penny! I wish this recipe were more festive and delicious or at least something you could stick candles in for wish-making blowing-out purposes, but that will have to wait for some other time (like whenever you next make delicious vegan cupcakes!)

That important business aside, I don’t know if anyone noticed, but I got a shiny new Flickr Pro account to help me wrangling all the photos from my Nepal trip. I looove it, but I digress. In the process of said photo-wrangling, I rediscovered more than a few old pictures I’d forgotten all about. One of these was an old Sundance soup sign:

fennelicious

and coincidentally enough, I found many of the ingredients for this soup lying around in the fridge when I got home from my trip. Boo-yah! (more…)

On Friday I mentioned that I have a few different ideas for ways to start writing about the Nepal trip, but I also want to get back into writing regular TracyFood posts: recipes, interesting food news, book and restaurant reviews, and of course rants about restaurant customers. So I thought today I would make a list of possible topics to write about, including stuff I put on hold because I was going on this crazy trip, and also maybe mix in some random stuff I saw on the InterGoogleTubes that were so TracyFood I was glad not to have missed them this past month. So. Here I go. (As always, if you’re reading this and want to hear more about any of it, that’s what comments are for, and they are much appreciated.) (more…)

First and foremost, happy birthday Liz!

That said, hey! I’m home from Asia, and it is awesome like my trip was awesome. Yay for that! Those of you who have received postcards so far know that I don’t exactly string together the most coherent of sentences these days, in part because my brain is SO VERY FULL of trip amazingness and I don’t really know where to begin writing about any of it. I have a few ideas, but for now I’ll start with pictures, because so far composing photo captions has been a nice sound-byte-y way to ease myself back into writing for Teh IntarGoogle every day, and that’s good. So is the fact that I am almost sort of caught up on laundry, and that in a fit of major cleverness yesterday I went food shopping at my friendly local Asian supermarket instead of freaking myself out with something more well-lit and mainstream U.S.-ian, and that was pretty perfect — lots of stuff I couldn’t read but wanted to eat anyway, not unlike Bangkok. But I digress. Pictures! (more…)

My entire goal for today is to get home. I know, it’s a whole other day in a fantastic Asian city, but I also know myself a little, and after a month away from home, I start to get really antsy for it, and I fully expect that this trip will be no different. Here is my plan. (more…)
