Not-monkey not-Monday: spontaneous three-day weekend edition. 31 July 2007 8:56 pm
Posted by Tracy in : monkeys, garden, pictures, seasonality, Morning Glory, work, meta , trackbackI worked a three-day weekend, covering a shift on Sunday, and then had dinner at Peter’s advisor’s house instead of writing anything for TracyFood last night. Sorry! However, while I’m still riding high on what I felt was a pretty successful themed series of entries last week, I’m now considering two possible themes for this week.
Readers! Are you in the mood to hear all about the latest happenings in my awesome garden, or should I take a hint from the universe and write about pigs? The hint was last Friday’s episode of The Best Recipes in the World with Mark Bittman, “Pure Porcine Pleasure,” which reminded me of the pig farm we visited on our awesome bike trip:
and then on top of that on Sunday I picked up a big stack of Good Eats DVDs at the library including one with an episode entitled “Pork Fiction” which claims to feature a hog farm. All told, I figure there’s something to be written about the media representation of pig farming versus my own experiences. Finally, tomorrow night I’m hoping to catch a new PBS show called To Market To Market to Buy a Fat Pig, which probably isn’t about pigs but could still fit that theme based on the title alone. But my garden is pretty awesome, too click here for all the pictures, though I’m particularly fond of this one:
I can’t believe I thought my pole beans were at their full height when I got back from our trip and they’d already twined to the top of my poles. Some of them are literally too tall to harvest, so it’s a good thing I can ask Peter to be tall for me!
Anyway, readers, that’s what’s on my mind this week: my garden and pigs. If either of those subjects sounds particularly fascinating, let me know. Otherwise, I may just flip a coin tomorrow.

I’m more interested in the garden, since I don’t eat pigs but am putting together a container garden on our deck. But as long as you talk about the garden at some point, I’ll be happy.
