Monkey Wednesday: I seem to need a vacation. 2 May 2007 10:41 pm
Posted by Tracy in : Marion Nestle, Michael Pollan, books, cooking, meta, monkeys, pictures , trackbackIn case it wasn’t obvious from my (let’s face it, more than a little half-assed) Monday and Tuesday posts, I’m really not writing all that well this week. So I’ve decided I’m taking a little break. TracyFood will be back on Monday, May 7. If you find yourself starved for online food reading in the meantime, I highly recommend Debra Solomon’s Culiblog, as well as Culinate (which just reminded me to check out Alice Waters’ Edible Schoolyard online), and the Ethicurean for excellent food news digests. Offline, I once again recommend the works of Marion Nestle (Food Politics, What To Eat, and Safe Food, which I might actually have time to read if I take time away from berating myself for crappy writing), Brian Wansink’s Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think, Peter Singer and Jim Mason’s The Way We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter, and what the heck, some Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma, The Botany of Desire, and Second Nature: A Gardener’s Education, that last being another book I keep trying to make time for). Also I recommend cooking yourself something delicious to eat, like I did tonight by finally trying a recipe from Moosewood Restaurant Simple Suppers. Behold the deliciousness of “Pasta With Olives Piquant”:
Like I wrote on Flickr, I didn’t invent the name. Also, my version might not be as pretty as the one pictured in the book, but I’m still proud of the shaved Pecorino Romano, so there.
Thanks for reading (and also — I hope — cooking).
Love,
-Tracy
