I know full well that it’s hippie crap, but today I discovered that if you read the fine print it’s also big scary agribusiness at the same time (Archer-Daniels Midland? Ewwww!) Forgive me, readers, if you believe I have sinned.

It’s probably made with RoundUpReady soybeans from Monsanto, too, I know. But it was part of some tasty red beans and rice tonight, I’ll tell you that much. Once I got the beans boiling I put them in an ovenproof dish with a handful of diced onions and baked them along with tonight’s loaf of whole-wheat no-knead bread, and they were done and ready to mix with sautéed onions, garlic, and spices by the time I was taking the lid off the bread pan. Brown rice and sautéed collard greens with garlic and cider vinegar completed the meal, which was delicious and hearty. The leftovers will make an excellent start for a pot of vegan chili at games night on Thursday. But I’ll probably never buy TVP® again, thanks for asking.
