Home! And now, back to work! 30 March 2007 9:38 pm

Riding to Corvallis and back was an adventure, gardening and having tea with Allison was delicious, and having dinner with the Jarlors was fun, too. (Note to self: post tofu ricotta recipe already.) But now we’re home, and I’m working for the next three days, so I figured now was as good a time as any to post scans of the new and improved Morning Glory menu so you all would know what I’m up to at my hippie job. The great cast iron versus nonstick tofu cookoff, round one 27 March 2007 5:25 pm
Posted by Tracy in : seasonality, garden, vegan, vegetarian, friends, eating, cooking , 2 commentsI had hoped to do some gardening today, to warm up for wrangling the raised beds at Allison’s place in Corvallis if there’s any energy left for anything but drinking tea after the bike ride there (and I should be up for plenty of fun and games if my recovery from Sunday’s adventures are any indication, but I digress). But back to that warming up idea for a minute, because I need to keep it firmly in mind: It’s so cold and wet outside today that I’m seriously thinking about breaking open the freezer for the last of the split pea soup I made at the end of February. Dangit. I even made a special trip past the hippie home and garden store on my way home from work yesterday, for peat pots and floating row cover material! Whine, whine, whine.
In much better news, for last night’s dinner I made my first attempt at using my biggest and best-seasoned cast-iron skillet for pan-fried tofu, and I am happy to report that it turned out pretty darn delicious! (more…)

If I don’t post every day this week, it’s because Peter and I have plans to ride our Tandem Twosday to Corvallis and back — not in the same day, although yesterday we tested our capacity for long trips with an 80-plus mile bike ride, and it was awesome. Just to make it food-related, I would like to report that cheap, crappy pizza has never tasted as good as it did afterwards. (There’s very good pizza to be had in Eugene, but our favorite place doesn’t deliver, and we were definitely not up to leaving the house after our epic exertions.) (more…)

Anyway, woo for spring break! I’m finally relaxing a bit after losing way too much sleep on my sustainable agriculture paper (ugh) and then I found this relic of my time in the Sundance cheese department while doing some much-needed spring cleaning in the office — would you believe there’s a floor in there sometimes? But now, behold the glory of Crater Lake Blue by Rogue Creamery: (more…)
Sorry, No Real Post Today, or More about The Paper Eating My Brain 22 March 2007 10:44 pm
Posted by Tracy in : school, politics, sustainability, agriculture, eugene, identity, eating , add a commentIt’s all I can think about, okay? Today I figured out what’s really wrong with my final paper for my sustainable agriculture class: it’s what happens when I write at least three or four essays at once without realizing it.
