Monkey Monday: special Morning Glory Day 4 edition 5 February 2007 11:09 pm

I’m not as all-out exhausted as I was Friday night, but I’m still pretty tired, so writing about all the random articles I bookmarked as possible TracyFood topics will have to wait until I’m more coherent (or caffeinated, whatever). Today was my first solo shift at Morning Glory after three days of training, and I am happy to report that it went pretty well, even with the crazy party of eight at 2 PM that were at least kind enough to call in advance to warn us of their arrival, even if they weren’t kind enough to be compelled by the power of my mind and only order things that are very easy to make. (“They all want biscuits and gravy,” I kept telling anyone who could hear. “And maybe side salads.”)

I am even happier to report that from now until the next time it changes my regular work schedule will be Tuesdays and Saturdays, so maybe things will be a little less tiring from here on out. In case you need any help imagining how relieved I am to be done with that little marathon and down to a steady two days a week plus maybe occasional shift coverage, consider the following:

Aside from the ladles I may or may not have left in the salad dressing containers (not that I’m obsessing), today’s most embarrassing moment at work was when I realized that after three days of training, I had still somehow managed to avoid learning pancake procedures. Oops. But now I know from pancakes, oh yes, even if I don’t always know them from waffles, a little misreading that led me to my shift lunch (delicious sesame spelt pancake!) As mistakes go, not so bad. Especially since one of the specials for the week involves crèpes filled with hot pear compote, which also makes a very good pancake topping. Still no regrets, except maybe that I’m too tired to have written something better tonight.
